Plant
Geranium 'True Rose'
Pelargonium graveolens
Scented geraniums were initially brought to Holland and England from South Africa in the mid-1600s. They were one of the essential herbs of early American colonists who favored useful herbs over merely decorative flowers. Rose cakes, syrups, and potpourri came from the kitchens of the day, and today that redolent rose scent is just as appealing. Small pink flowers tip the branches in early summer.
