Verbena rigida
Hailing from Brazil and Argentina, Verbena rigida loves to tango with butterflies and bees, the nectar-filled blooms inviting a dance of pollination. Its compact form features freely branching stems carrying a multitude of intense violet-purple flowers. A mainstay of summer gardens, it always looks in proper form, and for all this holds an Award of Garden Merit.

Starting Indoors:
Recommended. 8-10 weeks before last frost. Keep at 65-75°F in darkness until germination occurs. If no germination after four weeks, chill in refrigerator for two weeks, then return to warmth.

PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Small but mighty, slender vervain has vivid violet flowers in lightly fragrant clusters that refuse to stop blooming, even laughing off the first frosts of fall. The many-branched stems root along their length to make flower-filled drifts, becoming a groundcover where hardy. A pollinator magnet for edging hot, sunny gardens in company with calamint and agastache and spectacular in large containers.
