PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Garden phlox is an essential pollinator garden summer bloomer that attracts butterflies by the score. It is great for borders and edging in wildflower and perennial gardens in humus-rich soil. Apply mulch, keeping away from the crowns to conserve water and keep the soil cool, and water during dry periods to lessen the chance of mildew. Long-blooming by nature, deadheading regularly will encourage further bloom. Every few years, divide in spring or in autumn south of zone 6.
Final Spacing:
1.5-2.5'
Water Requirements:
Medium Water Use
Watering Details:
Keep moist by providing about 1" of water or so per week, more during especially dry spells.
Fertilizer:
Apply about 2" of compost prior to planting and each spring thereafter.
Diseases & Pests:
Plants may be susceptible to mildew when the weather is damp and warm or when they are stressed by drought. Phlox 'Party Girl' is a highly resistant cultivar, but best practices should still be followed. Plant in locations that have good air circulation and thin out stems to increase air circulation. Remove and discard any diseased stems in the fall.
