Not recommended due to taproot system.
Direct sow in early spring; early fall in warm winter areas (zones 9-10). Scarify and soak seeds overnight before sowing to hasten germination.
PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Lacy phacelia is an interesting and amazingly useful native flower that attracts a large number of pollinators and beneficial insects, serves as a hardworking cover crop where weed pressure is slight, and combats some soil nematodes. An excellent addition to vegetable gardens and wildflower gardens.
Moderately drought tolerant. Keep evenly moist but never saturated until established, then water during hot, dry spells.
Slightly acidic to alkaline
If soil is poor, mix in a few inches of compost prior to planting.
