Blue Mistflower

Eupatorium coelestinum
Neat as a pin, the fall-blooming mistflower is a butterfly's best friend! The soft fuzzy flowers bloom atop compact, healthy dark green foliage from early to late fall. Taking the place of fading summer perennials, they combine satisfyingly with rosy to peach chrysanthemums, goldenrods, and more. Also known as Hardy Ageratum.

WHEN TO SET OUTSIDE
This Eastern U.S. native summer to early autumn bloomer can be set in the ground in springtime when all danger of frost has passed, or in early autumn.
PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Hardy Ageratum will attract butterflies and makes a lovely addition to any cottage garden or naturalized setting, as it is rarely eaten by animals due to its bitter taste. Also good for open woodland or rain gardens, it requires medium to wet soils, sandy or clay. Does fairly well in partial shade. Provide with a thin layer of compost mixed in, followed by about an inch of mulch. Divide every three years or so in early spring, or in autumn in zones 7 and warmer.
