SOWING INSTRUCTIONS
Depth:
Surface sow and press in; needs light to germinate.
Starting Indoors:
Start indoors in pots 6-8 weeks before planting out. Keep at 60-70°F.
Starting Outdoors:
Direct sow early spring and again in mid-spring; fall sow in mild winter areas, zones 8-10.
PLACEMENT & CULTIVATION
Native coreopsis furnishes meadow gardens and old-fashioned cottage and rock gardens with prairie style, its thin, wiry stems holding firm to the breeze-tossed dancing flowers. It is also useful in vegetable gardens, attracting beneficial insects and pollinators while also being deer-resistant. Taller plants may need an underpinning of support in very windy conditions. After the first flush of bloom, shear the plant by one-third to promote a later full flowering or deadhead regularly.
Watering Details:
Provide with about 1" of water per week during dry periods of the growing season. Drought tolerant, but blooms better with regular watering.
Soil pH:
This plant prefers slightly acidic pH levels but will grow in neutral to slightly alkaline soils.
Fertilizer:
Mix about 1" of compost into the soil prior to planting.
Diseases & Pests:
No major pests or diseases. Water early in the day to allow the foliage to dry and avoid leaf disease.
When to Cut for Bouquets:
Harvest when flowers are fully open.
