I purchased a packet of these jasmine tobacco seeds last spring and planted them in my garden. They sprouted quickly, and abundantly, and I had to thin them out several times, and the plants grew so big and tall that they started to overshadow the rest of my garden! And they put out so many beautiful white flowers! They stay closed up and droopy during the day, but in the evening the flowers opened up and made a lovely sweet scent that I could sometimes smell from across my yard. Butterflies and hummingbirds weren't too interested in them - not surprising, since they were closed during the day. But the reason I got them was to attract moths, and they worked! Several times this past summer and fall I have found big hawkmoths nectaring at the nicotiana - at least 3 different species. Now it is mid-November - and a few blossoms are still hanging on! I have collected tons of seeds to replant, but that was hardly needed since there are already new plants springing up under the old ones.In sum - the seeds produced healthy and vigorous plants, the flowers were beautiful and abundant and fragrant, and the flowers attracted hawkmoths.
