A charming small flower that looks like baby snapdragons in a fruit salad mix of colors of yellow, rose, blue, violet, and more, most often sweet bicolors. A cheerful early summer edger, the seeds should be mixed with sand to sow thinly in earliest spring, for they revel in cool weather.

Depth: Surface to just cover.
Sprout Time: 10-14 days
Starting Indoors: Not recommended.
Starting Outdoors: Direct sow 3-4 weeks before last spring frost, fall to winter in zones 8-10.

Placement & Cultivation

Native to Italy, this charming small flower looks remarkably like baby snapdragons. Toadflax is a superb early summer garden edger and container annual that is sown early spring. It blooms all season long in areas where summer nights cool to the high 50s, lower 60s. Beneficial insects, bees, and butterflies create a hive of activity around them, drawn to the abundant nectar and pollen-rich flower spikes.

Watering Details: Keep evenly moist until well-established, then water during dry spells.
Soil pH: Not particular about pH
Fertilizer: Mix in a few inches of compost or some granular fertilizer prior to planting.
