I'm in zone 8a and we had a brutal heat wave and drought this past summer. This zinnia performed beautifully. The color is saturated and has gorgeous tones of orange hinting of carmine red in places. I planted in a container and didn't amend my potting soil. It does require staking. I allowed one to bend and created a sculptural effect. Can't wait to plant them again. Had usual issue with aphids, but no problem to deal with those organically.
