I love the 'Tip Tops', for they willingly show off their jaunty blossoms above lily-pad leaves for all to see and enjoy. Of easiest culture too, just avoid overly rich soils.

Starting Indoors: Sow in pots 2-4 weeks before last frost. Keep at 65°F.
Starting Outdoors: Recommended. Direct sow after last frost.
When to Set Outside: About 1-2 weeks after all danger of frost, taking care not to disturb the roots.

Placement & Cultivation

Easy to grow nasturtiums are a delight of summer and fall, for they require so little care and few soil inputs. Regular, nitrogen-poor soil tips the scales favoring flower production over lush foliage growth. Add to vegetable gardens for their peppery flavors and attraction to pollinators, grow smaller types in pots and allow the trailing varieties to climb–with a bit of help–fences and trellis. Nasturtium's large seeds make them easy to plant, a good choice for budding young gardeners. Pick handfuls and place into old sea-green glass canning jars for perfect bouquets.

Watering Details: About 1" per week—drought tolerant once established, however regular watering may encourage more blossoms.
Soil pH: Slightly acidic to neutral

Diseases & Pests: Aphids may pose a problem—treat with an insecticidal soap if hosing down daily does not resolve the issue.

I love to look at these pale apricot flowers, true to color throughout. Plants are growing well in clay soil with less than 6 hrs of sun/day. They are covered with blooms!
