Excellent results in my 7b hot humid climate. I’ve tried to grow the tubers and don’t have much luck but these seeds were the best for me. I planted in full sun with a bit of late afternoon shade. They excelled even in the heat. The colors were beautiful & I had one purple that was particularly lovely. I will grow again.
Growing conditions: full sun, average soil amended with rich compost, zone6 in New England. These were easy to start indoors under a grow light in early spring. I waited until May to place them in the garden. They grew well and by fall, they were 4 feet high and full of blooms. I cut bouquets from them to encourage more blooms. At the end of the season after the first hard frost, I dug them up and stored them over the winter. The following spring, I planted the tubers with plenty of compost mixed in, and they bloomed beautifully the second year, too! Dahlias are among the most beautiful of flowers, and I grew them for the first time from this seed. Would absolutely buy again if I needed to!
