Agrostemma 'Purple Queen'

Agrostemma githago
Agrostemma 'Purple Queen's sparkling fuchsia flowers dance atop the willowy stems, each open flower lightly touched with striping that points to the pollen-filled centers. Once shunned as a weed in cornfields for its seeds contain saponin toxins. Today, showier varieties of Corn-cockle are welcome in informal gardens as long-lasting cut flowers and brilliant garden ornaments.
