My favorite flower in the garden this year! Will grow again.
We have an all-white garden, a couple of years ago our young ragdoll cat was diagnosed with a hole in his heart. We were well aware he would have a short life. He passed at 22 months in November 2017. We buried him in our garden, as he would spend hours looking from the window to that corner. That summer, we did not plant anything near his graveside but did have a cat figurine in that corner. We witnessed a miracle that summer, all around his graveside Cosmos grew and since they are annuals, we knew that was not possible and yet, all summer long till early fall, Sumo's Cosmos were in full bloom. Still brings smiles to our hearts and forever now, Sumo Cosmos will be part of our landscape. Cosmos has always been one of our favourite annuals, they bloom constantly especially if you pinch them early so they provide full bushes of white delicate flowers.
Seeds sprouted on their own, and plant grew very, very well. Surprisingly easy to grow. Some bees got their nectar. Not best for butterflies given the pretty ruffled, double petals hindering access to center of flower. And butterflies prefer brightly colored flowers. Sunset zone 24 or hardiness 10a with average soil. Direct sun starting aprox 1030 until 1630 hours. Highly recommend for a refreshing, peaceful look in landscaping.
