Described as a recent garden introduction in 1935, the lovely true-blue flowers of this forget-me-not, with their tiny scalloped petals, possess a sweet innocence. Commonly cut for bouquets, this selection blooms with clustered sprays of flowers all summer and fall with deadheading. Self sows.

Sowing Instructions

Sprout Time: 5-20 days
Starting Indoors: Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost. Keep at 65-70°F.
Starting Outdoors: Direct sow in early spring 2-3 weeks before last frost. In zones 8-10, sow outdoors in autumn.
When to Set Outside: At last frost date.

Placement & Cultivation

All gardeners I know love true blue flowers and this old-fashioned favorite does not disappoint. A good cut flower and a bee magnet, Chinese fort-me-not is at home in borders, informal meadow plantings, and as edging and requires little care, just shear after bloom to prevent an excess of self sown plants.

lovely blue flower ...planted with peach snapdragons and arabian night dahlias. so beautiful! zone 5a in Vermont. Planted at the edge of a driveway in full sun. Started inside in late winter, but hoping it will reseed.
